When IB3 first contacted me about recording this we needed to come up with a location, and I’d like to thank Andreu Llabrés for letting us borrow the very same room where we first recorded the 24 hour Timelapse of Palma de Mallorca’s Bay video. What better location to talk about timelapse than this one (it certainly beats the views from my office).

Javier is a very active person in Internet in Spain, and an entrepreneur with great experience having founded among others Loogic, Inventa Internet, Hostarting and Recomendar.com.

This morning I had the pleasure to talk to him from the terrace of Hotel Horizonte, where he shared with us his impressions from the event, his challenges this year, and a few words of advice for those seeking to start a new business in Internet.

We all know about the importance of the users’ opinions (our clients), and how they can affect us, but I continue to find opinions quite negative about the subject.  I can understand that every situation is unique, but I also understand that there is still much to be done to educate people on the value of managing our reputation, as well as the tools available to do so.  Tools such as TripAdvisor.com

During the Travel Fair ITB in Berlin, I had the opportunity to chat with Marc Charron (Director of TripAdvisor Europe), and he told me that they were working hard to launch a number of tools that would facilitate the management of the users comments on TripAdvisor.  Tools that would help marketers and hotel owners to identify and respond more easily to the comments left on the site.  But most of all, I left that conversation feeling that Marc and his team were working hard to bring the hotels and its clients closer together in communication.

Months have passed since and I still ocasionally find mixed opinions on TripAdvisor, and for this reason  have asked Carlo Alvarez (Senior Account Manager of TripAdvisor), for a few minutes of his time, in order to share with us his opinions, as well as give us a few words of advice on how we can benefit from managing our reputation. Besides being a very open person with whom I share a few passions such as photography, video and traveling, talking to Toni you realize that he truly lives what he talks about, and that he speaks from experience, not theories.

Toni is a very active person in Internet, sharing his experiences and knowledge through his personal Blog, in addition to being behind the Internet Agency eMascaró Crossmedia Consulting and eMascaró Tourism, present in both Barcelona and Madrid.

I had the pleasure of working wiht them in a national education iniciative for the Travel industry this year, as well as organizing an event that had the presence of national authorities and students, and I must say it was a very pleasant experience. In fact, I was very impressed with the quality and organization of Vanessa Mojarro and Miquel Piñol, the main two people I had the pleasure of working with, in addition to Mariano Sacristán (President of TurisTEC) and Toni Pascual (Secretary).

It’s for this reason that I visited their offices this past week and recorded this short video with Miquel Piñol. Basically to talk a bit more about what is TurisTEC, who is behind it and how they can help us. Please note that the video is in Spanish.
